Off-beat indie comedy-drama with a barnstorming performance from Aubrey Plaza as a woman desperate for friendship who believes that a comment on Instagram means she can intrude on people's lives. A film that made me feel incredibly uncomfortable throughout due to Plaza terrific central performance and a film that demands to be seen as an example of the dangers of social media. Funny in a very dark way but more shocking than anything.

Cracking stiff upper lip version of the events during World War II that led to the mass evacuation of France from Dunkirk. John Mills stars as the corporal leading a small group of men through the French countryside in order to escape the oncoming Germans while Bernard Lee and Richard Attenborough head over the sea in their private boats. More propagnda than Chris Nolan's film but just as powerful.

Stephen King's terrifying novel gets the big screen treatment with the best King adaptation in years, as a group of children join forces to stop an evil entity from haunting them. What makes this such a chilling affair is that we care about the kids as it's as much a coming-of-age tale as it is a horror. Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise is a terrific creation. It...floats magnificently.
