DC take note. This is how you make a decent Batman movie. The laughs come even before the opening logos start, this delivers self-referential gag after self-referential gag, taking swipes at previous Batman movies while adding enough material on its own merit. Loses it's way a little by the end and isn't as good as The Lego Movie, it still puts other modern comedies to shame.

Peter Fonda is a TV commercial director in the midst of a divorce who is persuaded to push his troubles to one side for a night taking LSD. The result is a trippy, psychedelic movie that lacks one important strand...a plot. Directed by Roger Corman and written by Jack Nicholson, this is more a visual nightmare than an examination into the effects of the drug.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a masterpiece of horror. This isn't. Tobe Hooper's sequel is as far removed from his 1974 original as you can get. Gone is the grimy, disturbing atmosphere to be replaced by loud, bizarre nonsense that is flowing with gore while turns Leatherface from a terrifying menace to a bumbling, love-struck fool. Dreadful.

Truly remarkable film based on the true story of a man, brought up in Australia, searching for his real home and real mother in India by using Google Earth. Heartbreaking, uplifting and inspirational, it has one of the best performances from a child actor and Dev Patel is superb as the older version. Superb.

Oscar-winning drama with Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn as the elderly couple spending time at their lakeside retreat, where they are joined by daughter Jane Fonda, whose relationship with her father is tarnished. Charming, gentle and occasionally funny, this ticks all the boxes if you want a film that you can simply float along with.

80's British drama based on the early schooldays of Guy Burgess, one of the Cambridge Spies. Rupert Everett reprises his stage role as the unconventional homosexual who refuses to play the game that his public school wants him to play. A very young Colin Firth and Cary Elwes also star. Interesting.

70's cop film that doesn't really know what it wants to be, either a comedy or a thriller. Burt Reynolds leads the cast as they try to track down a man holding the city to ransom as he threatens to kill top politicians. Its mix of characters and plotlines are similar to Hill Street Blues, except without the control.

Delightful animation about a theatre impresario who desperately needs money, so put on a singing contest. Crammed with well-rounded characters, a story that both kids and adults can enjoy and plenty of perfectly performed songs. A film to make you smile from start to finish.

Truly bizarre musical with Cliff Richard as a singer who. along with his friends, stumble onto a film set and decide to make their own movie, filming the set-ups for the one being made. Brimming with energy but lacking in any real restraint, this often goes off into flights of fancy that are more boggling than entertaining.
